Diary of a Poet
Volume XIII
Back from the Block© (2002)
Dear Reader,
The following MS has been taken from what
was written in the past fourteen months. This was a
return to writing verse after an eleven year silence.
The silence was not complete, but the fire that had
raged within for a decade and a half was invisible
for that time, if not non-existent. When LuckyPress
.com released Veracious Verse they thought it might
be better if i was not a "dead poet", so i got online
and joined "Versatility". Each week a brilliant news-
letter was in the "mail", with some assignment to
write. After work, i would sit and read the "letter",
write a poem, and "go" to the "room", where dozens
of poets gathered to share and encourage. Though
the group has long been defunct, i cannot yet
express what a help it was in bringing me back to the
art i first loved! Such poems as "Muse", "Happiness",
"Practice makes perfect’ and others, would never
have come through without the inspiration of the
other writers and the well researched newsletter!
Your comments on the following verse, pro and con,
would be greatly appreciated! If you can spare the
time, the e-mail and real mail addresses are on the
credits page, following.
Enjoy! :)

A Poet?
Thousands
of hours
with pens
of all sorts
reams
of pages
only worthy
to burn
After trying
all
ignorant
resorts
the failed effort
could not
damage
the yearn
No stern
advises
nor arrogant
guides
could steer
the art
from its natural
course
Neither
great escapes
nor chemical
hides
could stop
the verse
from fulfilling
its source
Once a 'great'
poet
with grandiose
fame
and an ego
that could
not turn
the key
Now just
a wick
for eternity
's flame
daring
hopes of
an instrument
to be
1006
Dirt
Moving small parts
of the Earth
to placate
the desires of men
If only dirt could
tell the story
of all that's
happened and been
Tell of the trials
of Neanderthal
of villages
and tribes and chiefs
Give us the rumors
of battles of yore
rumors of warriors
and victors and thiefs
Would we then
worry over such
as substanceless
as lack or loss?
Would we still cover
all of our deeds
with the finite
of mortal gloss?

Labor of Hope
I feel Love flow through me
i see Love flow through you
knowing Joy is our essence
Love inspiring what we do
Today is just a continuance
of Love unplanted that did grow
Hope is the labor of our longing
a deeper Love Today to know
Happy Birthday! :)
