Poetry Palace Gift Shop .com has undergone another rebuilding, due to customer complaints about browsing and purchase confusion. "Buy Now" and "Add To Cart" buttons have been added, for both US and Foreign orders. A page has been added trying to explain Foreign shipping and handling charges, but PLEASE e-mail any questions to poet@poetrypalacegiftshop for clarification! :) Links to all other category pages have been place at the bottom of each Item page for easier browsing.
We hope this allows for a more pleasant and quick visit for those coming to purchase a favorite poet's chapbook, or any other Item. Let us know if you still experience problems of any kind with the site!

Wide Open Spaces
The wide open spaces
Spread out before me
Filling me with excitement.
The awesome panorama sweeps
To the horizon.
The endless plains begging
To be discovered.
I long to step out of the commonplace
Upon the pathless expanse
And never look back
Only move forward
Taking in the loveliness
Feasting greedily
On the sense of freedom
And the beauty
Offered temptingly
As an inducement.
The wind tugs at my hair
Gently pushing me from behind
It breaths in my ear;
"Come with me."
Inviting me to
Drop the cloak of the mundane,
The expected reality.
It beckons me to follow
As it sweeps across
The wide open spaces.

Poetry Exercise
Read your local paper until an article catches your fancy. Write the article in your favorite verse form. Write it again in a form you don not normally use. The more forms you attempt the better the exercise. To increase the benefits of the exercise, use the article in which you are least interested.
Have an exercise you created for improving your writing? Would you like to see it in this newsletter? Send it to
Poetry Palace
.
Remember, if the exercise is easy, the benefit is minimal… :(

Welcome to another month here at the Palace!
Finally getting around to posting a few pictures of the November craft fair. Though there was not single sale there were plenty who looked. Some people read every card, or looked through each chapbook. We got the word out to a few more folk that the Palace is available for any poetic needs they have! :)
The dozen roses poem here, in black, was just a fun activity. It did its job, attracting plenty of looks!
As the two fairs attended were quite relaxing, i may try a couple of new ones this fall!
Have been given permission to set up a rack of wares at the Bennington Country Store, about an hour outside of Manchester. This is scheduled to be set up in May. The owner of the store is a long time friend of Linda Mae, but said that 35% should be acceptable to most country store owners, and there are a lot of them in New Hampshire!
The owner of ths store also said she will let the other owners she is networked with know how the racks works out. The rack will include all the chapbooks, Note Cards, Stationery, People Say and some sample calendars, with special order cards that customers can fill out and purchase for a two week delivery. We will keep you up to date on this as it moves forward.

Submitting Poetry For Chapbook Consideration
Three or four poems will be plenty for a query. Poetry
MUST be submitted with
NO tabs, aligned left, in Arial ( other common fonts if you do not have Arial) font, with titles, in bold, on the first line of a page (or five spaces below the last line of the preceding poem), in one document. Poems in all CAPS will be deleted. Please do not have lines of over 40 characters (even those might have to be divided, and it would be far more comfortable if the poet did it before sending, probably on both sides of this adventure!) If this is too much work for you, that is fine; do not submit (I do not mean to sound cold, but the amount of work done here is ridiculous!). Please put "chapbook" in the subject of the email! :)

We have a contract for single poetry submissions for People Say; a new volume will be released each year. If you have a poem that you think would be a great note card, please send it along with this contract to poet@poetrypalacegiftshop.biz. Please put “single submission” in the subject line.
Single Submission Contract
I have submitted this poem to be used in the note card catalog knowing that if used it cannot be sold or used elsewhere until it goes out of print. I understand that the catalog sales are for 'Palace' support and no royalties are paid, but that I will receive twenty-five cents for each note card purchased with my verse appearing on it. I understand that royalties are paid quarterly. I hereby agree to all Poetry Palace terms and understand Thomas Beal has all creative authority. The content of the poem cannot be changed without my permission, but the artwork, fonts etceteras to be used is dictated by the needs of Poetry Palace.
I _________________ agree to all the stipulations set forth by Poetry Palace.
